1TB flash drive with usb 3.0 from kingston

You've read right-- up to 1,000 gigs (or one Terra Byte) of data storage space on a small USB stick that's less than two inches long and weighs in at about an ounce. But they won't be cheap, so get your hard-earned cash out if you really need one.

Available at the end of February, the Data Traveler HyperX Predator will offer an incredible 1 terabyte of storage with the new USB 3.0 specification.

This is the latest storage device that will be offered by Kingston, a global leader in the field of computer memory.

The Data Traveler 512 HyperX Predator 3.0 USB flash drive is currently shipping with 512 gigabytes of storage. But the next generation due out in the next few weeks will ramp up the capacity to a full terabyte, making it the largest (in terms of storage, not physical dimensions) USB drive available on the market.

Kingston is also touting the drive as very fast. With Super Speed USB 3.0 support, the HyperX Predator offers transfer speeds of up to 240 MB per second when reading data and up to 160 MB per second when writing.

And with a zinc alloy metal casing, the drive is made to be durable as well. It also comes with a five-year warranty.

The drive is fully compatible with a variety of operating systems, including Windows 8, Windows 7 with SP1, Windows Vista with SP1 or SP2, Windows XP with SP3, Mac OS X 10.6 or higher, and with the Linux kernel version 2.6 or higher.

"Our new Data Traveler HyperX Predator 3.0 allows users to store their entire digital world on just one portable USB 3.0 flash drive," said Andrew Ewing, Flash memory business manager for Kingston.

"The large capacity and faster USB 3.0 transfer speeds allow users to save time as they access, edit, and transfer applications or files such as HD movies directly from a hard drive to a USB strick without any performance lag," added Ewing.

Those who are looking at such a high-capacity flash drive should be prepared to spend quite a bit of cash, however. Kingston didn't reveal the price of the 1 TB model, but the 512 GB edition already retails for a hefty $1,750, according to a company spokesman.
